We are seeking a  Firefighter in Tallahassee, Florida to join our team . As a firefighter, you will be responsible for protecting the community by responding to fire and emergency situations. Your duties will include extinguishing fires, rescuing individuals from hazardous situations, and providing medical assistance. You will work as part of a team, often under challenging conditions, to ensure the safety and well-being of others.

Responsibilities:

Emergency Response:

Respond promptly to emergency calls, including fires, accidents, and other hazardous situations.
Assess the nature and severity of the emergency and determine the appropriate course of action.
Operate firefighting equipment, such as hoses, pumps, and ladders, to extinguish fires and rescue individuals.
Conduct search and rescue operations to locate and evacuate people trapped in burning buildings or other dangerous environments.

Fire Suppression:

Utilize firefighting techniques to contain and extinguish fires, including deploying fire hoses, operating fire extinguishers, and ventilating smoke-filled areas.
Perform forcible entry to gain access to burning buildings or areas where individuals may be trapped.
Implement fire prevention measures to minimize the risk of fire recurrence, such as securing hazardous materials and inspecting fire alarm systems.

Medical Assistance:

Administer basic first aid and CPR to individuals in need of medical attention.
Assist paramedics and other emergency medical personnel in providing advanced medical care to injured or ill individuals.
Transport injured or sick individuals to medical facilities for further treatment when necessary.

Training and Preparedness:

Participate in regular training exercises to maintain proficiency in firefighting techniques, emergency medical procedures, and equipment operation.
Stay informed about the latest developments in firefighting technology, safety protocols, and regulations.
Conduct fire prevention education programs for the community, including school presentations and public events.

Teamwork and Communication:

Work closely with other firefighters and emergency responders to coordinate activities and ensure effective response to emergencies.
Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, supervisors, and other emergency personnel using radios and other communication devices.
Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold the values of integrity, respect, and cooperation in all interactions with colleagues and the public.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in firefighting, emergency medical services, or related fields is desirable.
Certification as a firefighter and emergency medical technician (EMT) or paramedic is required.
Physical fitness and agility to perform strenuous tasks in challenging environments, including lifting heavy equipment and climbing ladders.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating emergency vehicles is preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and respond to emergencies at any time.
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to established safety protocols and regulations.

Work Environment:

Firefighters work in a variety of environments, including fire stations, emergency vehicles, and outdoor locations where fires and emergencies occur. The job often involves exposure to extreme temperatures, smoke, hazardous materials, and physically demanding conditions. Firefighters may be required to work long shifts and respond to emergencies at any time of day or night.
