As a Forging Machine Setter in Enterprise, Nevada, you will play a crucial role in the production process by setting up and operating forging machinery to produce precision components according to specifications. You will work closely with the production team to ensure the efficient operation of forging equipment and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup: Set up forging machines, including hammers, presses, and other equipment, according to job specifications and production requirements.
- Tooling Installation: Install and adjust tooling, dies, and molds on forging machines to achieve the desired shape and dimensions of forged components.
- Material Handling: Load raw materials into forging machines and monitor the forging process to ensure proper material flow and temperature control.
- Quality Control: Inspect forged components for defects, such as cracks, surface imperfections, and dimensional accuracy, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues with forging machinery, such as mechanical failures or malfunctions, and perform minor repairs or adjustments as needed.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following lockout/tagout procedures during equipment maintenance.
- Production Optimization: Optimize machine settings and operating parameters to maximize production efficiency while minimizing scrap and downtime.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate production records, including machine settings, production output, and quality inspection results, to ensure traceability and compliance with quality standards.
- Training and Mentoring: Provide training and guidance to junior machine operators and apprentices to develop their skills and knowledge in forging operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and safety within the forging department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in machining or metalworking is preferred.
- Proven experience (X years) as a Forging Machine Setter or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of forging processes, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting machinery and performing basic repairs and adjustments.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality forged components.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to forging operations.
