We are seeking a meticulous and analytical Cost Estimator in Escondido, California to join our team in the engineering sector. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing detailed cost analysis and estimating services for a wide range of engineering projects. This position involves close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure accurate and realistic cost assessments are provided, supporting effective budgeting, planning, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Cost Estimation: Develop comprehensive cost estimates for engineering projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses. Utilize industry standards, historical data, and project specifications to ensure accuracy.
• Budget Development and Analysis: Assist in the formulation of project budgets based on detailed cost estimates. Analyze project financials to identify variances and recommend solutions for budget adherence.
  Risk Analysis: Conduct risk assessments related to project costs and timelines. Identify potential financial risks and propose mitigation strategies to manage uncertainties effectively.
• Collaboration with Project Teams: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for cost estimation. Ensure clear communication of cost implications and constraints throughout the project lifecycle.
• Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed reports and documentation supporting cost estimates and analyses. Present findings and recommendations to senior management and clients to facilitate informed decision-making.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, cost management tools, and methodologies. Contribute to the continuous improvement of cost estimation processes and practices within the organization.
  Vendor and Contractor Liaison: Liaise with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to obtain quotes and negotiate prices. Ensure that all external cost inputs are accurate and reflective of current market rates.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Cost Estimator or in a similar role within the engineering or construction industry.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to handle complex data and perform detailed analysis.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines efficiently.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., CostX, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles, construction processes, and industry standards.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional certification in cost estimation or project management (e.g., AACE International’s Certified Cost Professional (CCP)).
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
